Saturday programs are open to students by invitation, and parents should consult with their child’s teachers.

This year’s Saturday Academy program is for 3rd graders and has been extended to 12 weeks—through April 28—building student skills in math as well as reading to meet the grade-level requirements. Classes are from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

In order to accommodate Saturday Accademy students, chess team practices will now be scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. To be competitive tournament players, students need additional chess instruction beyond Yalow’s regular Tuesday and Thursday chess classes, where tournament tactics are addressed.

Fencing team practice for 1st and 2nd graders takes place from from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Children compete using steel épée swords using electric scoring.
