The NYS Board of Regents voted to approve our application for the Rosalyn Yalow Charter School to open in 2015 in the Bronx District 10. On June 24, 2014 the Regents voted to issue a charter stating that the school is “designed to achieve enduring learning outcomes by providing young students with Common Core standards-based instruction in language/literacy and mathematics using quality curricula and inquiry based instruction, classroom-embedded social-emotional supports, and a positive and engaging school culture.”

Our final application to open a new charter school in District 10 was submitted to NYSED on Thursday, March 27, 2014. In the next few days, Full Applications will be screened by NYSED for completeness before being accepted. By the end of the first week in April, Full applications will be sent to 5 member review panels for full evaluation. Qualified applicant groups and proposed boards of trustees will participate in a capacity interview upon invitation.
The Rosalyn Yalow Charter School’s Letter of Intent was accepted by NYSED for the 2014 new charter school application review cycle, and we plan to submit a Full Charter Application by March 28, 2014. After submission, NYSED will conduct a comprehensive review of the application, and a recommendation for approval or disapproval of charter issuance will be made to the Board of Regents at its June 23-24, 2014, meeting. If approved, the Rosalyn Yalow Charter School would be authorized to open in the summer of 2015.
On February 3, 2014, we submitted to the New York State Education Department our Letter of Intent to apply for a new charter school. If our Letter of Intent is accepted, we will submit a full charter application on March 14. In the meantime, we welcome opportunities to meet with parents to discuss the school and its mission.
